SAP NetWeaver® Technology Platform 7.1 Achieves Single-Node SPECjEnterprise2010 World-Record Performance Result on HP ProLiant Server

SAP AG, a member and contributor to the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC®), has released a world-record, single-node performance result on the SPECjEnterprise2010® benchmark. The result demonstrates the flexibility of developing and running robust and scalable Java applications on the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform using the latest mature technology standards. This simplifies and accelerates application development projects that deliver superior, cost-effective performance.

The full-system benchmark allows performance measurement and characterization of Java EE 5 application servers and supporting infrastructure, including Java virtual machines, CPUs, disks and servers. The SAP NetWeaver® Application Server (SAP NetWeaver AS) component 7.1, together with the SAP® MaxDB™ database 7.8 and version 5.1 of the SAP implementation of the Java virtual machine, achieved a world-record single-node performance result of 1,144.60 SPECjEnterprise2010 EjOPS. Both the application server and the database server were running on HP ProLiant DL380 G6 servers with 2x 4-core Intel Xeon CPU X5570 and X5560 processors, respectively, and the Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2 operating system.

"Achieving this world-record performance result further underscores SAP's commitment to drive open standards and ease customer and partner application development on SAP NetWeaver," said Hervé Couturier, executive vice president, Technology Development, SAP. "SAP has focused a high level of attention into compatibility and opening its platform to Java developers. SAP is at the forefront of adopting standards as the standards mature. Customers can develop applications today with full confidence that they adhere to the latest standards."

"Companies need a clear view of how new technologies will perform," said Martin Whittaker, vice president of Alliances, Performance & Solutions, HP. "This benchmark result shows that HP and SAP provide an ideal platform for organizations incorporating more demanding applications into their environments."
